Fall Ball 2020!

Good evening YVNLL family. I have great news. I got word today that the city has approved our guidelines to bring Fall Ball back to YVNLL! As of right now we are only able to practice, and maybe throw a few scrimmages in for good measure. But the best part of this news is... it is going to be free for ALL players. It doesn't matter what city you live in, where you go to school, what color your hair is or if you're a righty or a lefty. FALL BALL IS 100% FREE THIS YEAR. We wanted to make sure any and all players and parents that wanted to come out have the opportunity to come out and play ball. Yes, i know it's all a little weird right now, only having practices and no games. But we will schedule scrimmages for teams, to help hone skills for new and returning players.
With this being said the city and LLI are imposing a few guidelines on us. Rest assured players on the field DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT need to wear masks. Below are the guidelines we will be adhering to during this season.
· All practices will be held in an outside venue.
· All parents will be required to sign a waiver at registration stating that they will remain socially distanced while in the stands and in line at the snack bar. They will also be required to wear face coverings throughout their time at the field.
· There will be two (2) sets of catcher’s gear in each team bag to limit sharing equipment.
· All managers will be provided with two dozen (24) balls to limit sharing equipment.
· Managers will be responsible for spraying catchers gear with supplied sanitizing spray after each practice.
· All guidelines for players and parents will be posted at each entrance of the ballpark, they will also be emailed to each parent and they will be required to sign said guidelines at registration.
· No players will be required to wear face coverings while on the playing field.
· Parents will be responsible to socially distance themselves while at the ballpark. There will be taped off sections in the stands and for the snack bar line. All snack bar workers, board members, coaches, managers and parents are required to wear a face covering while at the ballpark.
· When games resume. During play, the defensive team will play all of their available players in the field, again players on the field do NOT need to wear face coverings. The team up to bat will have the batter in the box, and 3 “on-deck” batters in line, socially distanced. The first on deck batter will be in the dugout, at the opposite gate as their coach. The next on-deck batter will be a minimum of 6’ away from the first and the third will be a minimum of 6’ away from the second. When not at bat or in the on-deck line, players will be sitting with their families. At any given time, there should only be a maximum of 4 people in the dugout at one time.
· The snack bar will have taped lines on the ground where family members can wait to be served at the snack bar. While waiting in line families will be required to wear face coverings.
· During practice there will be no shared equipment, all players will need to bring their own gloves, batting helmet and bat. If players are in need of equipment the league will provide.
I know that is may seem a bit constricting, but we as a board feel that it is better to offer Fall Ball for the players and parents that want to come out and play responsibly. We will be holding walk up registration at 3 different times. The first will be on Wednesday Sept . 9th at 5:30pm and Friday Sept. 11th at 5:30 pm. Again, there is no registration fee, but we will need parents to sign safety and COVID waivers. We will see everyone very soon.
